First off, its been a long time since I’ve updated my blog, and what a way to start writing again with some amazing news for 2018.

As some of the people close to me have known, since starting a new role back in may 2017 I bit the bullet and joined the Cycle2Work Scheme (A Scheme which allows you a tax break on cycling equipment to enable employees the chance to commute by cycle).

Since joining the Cycle2Work Scheme, I’ve really enjoyed the challenge of city commuting. Not only the traffic, but the Hills, Weather, legistics and also the health benefits.

As part of my increased fitness, I’ve also found my mental heath to have been greatly improved, allowing me to keep focus on things and push myself to be in a much greater place.

With the increased fitness level, I’ve been looking to push myself further every week! from an initial 1 hours a week ride, and 8 Mile(12km) I’m now pushing myself to 3 hours and 13+ Miles (20km) I’ve managed (to date) a staggering 1,134miles (1824km)!

With this going well I’d like to share my journey along with my next big challenge..

The Maserati Tour de Yorkshire - Long Route.

The Long route is a 129km (~80 miles) Sportive, enabling participants the benefit of riding the same roads as the pro race, finishing on the Tour de Yorkshire finish line and with the added benefit of raising money for charity.

With every challenge, we must push ourselves further and to be able to do this, I feel we should have plenty of encouragement.

I will be raising money for Candlelighters, not only is this my Employers chosen charity of the year, I think this is a charity doing great things for children in need struggling with a truly awful disease!

On the Day

On the Day I plan on tracking my efforts via my Garmin 1000, which allows for Live GPS tracking for my Facebook/Twitter friends and family.

My Goal time, right now is an estimated: 5 Hours 45 Minutes (estimated by strava moving time).

I hope, in the run up to the day, I’ll be able to reduce this!

If you’d like to help me spur on the training and keep me going during the grualing day, please make donations on my JustGiving Page!

Disclaimer

Even though Candlelighters is sponsored by my employer, I feel that it is an amazing organisation, doing great things for children who should NEVER have to go through such a tragic/agressive disease at such a younge age!
